
The third floor was used by Catherine as a playroom, and eventually adapted as a ballroom when she got older. The small room at the west side was her school room when she was growing up. The bedroom on this floor was the head maid’s room. The very small room at the end of the hall is called the trunk room, where luggage was stored.
The lovely (c. 1902) Steinway & Sons piano (below) was a 10th birthday gift for the young Catherine. The ballroom also offers a small exhibit of the Barker summer home in Harbor Springs, Michigan, and additional bits of family history. Other items on display are the dog collar of Catherine’s beloved Boston terrier, Tango, and vintage Louis Vuitton luggage (below).
