Catherine's Room (Second Floor)

Catherine's childhood bedroom has undergone a recent transformation, reclaiming its original purpose while honoring the cherished memories that shaped its identity. Following the death of her parents in 1910, Catherine eventually moved into Mrs. Barker’s bedroom and redecorated this space as a guest room. For decades known as the "Monuments of Paris" room for its distinctive wallcovering, Catherine’s Bedroom is now restored to its original 1909 charm as a young girl’s bedroom.

Furnished with an elegant suite of Sheraton-style furniture, the room features a ladies’ desk adorned with a shield mirror – a prime example of timeless design boasting satinwood, mahogany, and beech veneer inlays. This delicate detailing, along with tapered legs, reflects the refined aesthetic that defines Sheraton craftsmanship.

As the restoration efforts unfolded, guided by the essence of the mansion's early 20th-century expansion, the room shed its Parisian motif while retaining nods to Catherine's childhood, including her cherished doll that she was allowed to play with on Sundays and special occasions. The doll was purchased in Paris from Bru Junior & Company, one of the premier bisque doll producers in the world.

Amidst carefully chosen furnishings and wallpaper painstakingly recreated from a vintage photograph, Catherine’s bedroom is a timeless tribute to her – a space where history intertwines with personal narrative, preserving the essence of the mansion’s legacy for generations to come.
