Valet's Room (First Floor)

This room served as the personal chamber of Mr. Barker's valet. The valet played a pivotal role in Mr. Barker's daily life, acting as his personal butler. Beyond merely selecting attire, the valet's responsibilities extended to assisting Mr. Barker with dressing, potentially aiding in his shaving routine, and overall ensuring his grooming and appearance were impeccable. As Mr. Barker's closest attendant, the valet was entrusted with maintaining his employer's wardrobe and personal valuables.

The valet's room was equipped with bells that were linked to a "silk cord extension push" in Mr. Barker's bedroom, conveniently facilitating communication between the two chambers. This interconnected setup was further enhanced by a walk-in closet connecting the two spaces. The distinct detailing on each side of the door, from the lavish fixtures and woodwork on Mr. Barker's side to the more modest craftsmanship on the valet's, vividly depicts the hierarchy within their relationship.
